ViaSat, seeking a highly reliable and easy-to-use mobile application for positioning the company’s Broadband Access Terminal (BAT) product line, collaborated with Coolfire Solutions to develop a simple and intuitive pointing solution using the latest mobile device technologies and features. ViaSat's knowledge of geosynchronous satellite location coupled with our extensive user experience and interface design birthed a mobile application for ViaSat's BAT users.
This Android-based application allows users to manually point an antenna with ease.
Further, it increases overall terminal Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF) in comparison to complex, cumbersome and expensive motorized auto-point controllers.
The app also educates non-technical users on basic concepts of satellite communications and the art of antenna pointing. And since it’s based on the use of mobile device technology, user’s aren’t encumbered by one off custom auto-acquisition controller interfaces.
